Answers to this question will inevitably mention keywords such as mesothelioma, DUI lawyers, mortgage, etc. Then you'll find those high paying keyword lists floating around that include ones that have bids in the $60 range.

It sounds real good. Target some of those keywords, get your site up and rake in the cash. Unfortunately, this is a myth and doesn't work. What happens is reality is that people do this and when they get any clicks at all, they find they are paying anywhere from less than a dollar, up to $3.00 or so. That's a far cry from those $60 bids. So what's happening? Why aren't you getting $20-$30 for that click?

Search Network vs. Content Network

The first issue that many AdSense publishers overlook in using these high paying keyword lists is that the bids are almost always based on the search network. Those same advertisers are, in most cases anyway, bidding at much lower numbers on the content network. Sometimes in the $.50 range.

That's why a keyword showing bids of $20 may only pay you $.25-$.50 a click.

Keyword Targeted Site Content

In order to attract the highest paying ads you'll want to focus on creating original keyword targeted content. Be sure to also include related keywords and keep the content focused.

Most of the publishers using AdSense don't make a use of this filter simply because they are not AdWords advertisers and hence they feel that blocking the ads would reduce the revenue generated by their website.

However, not making use of Competitive AD Filter you are losing money unknowingly to Made For AdSense Sites and Arbitragers.

Arbitrage and MFA (Made For AdSense) sites

There are many sites that I can put into the category of Made For AdSense sites. How do you find out whether a site is MFA or not? Well MFA sites have crappy content or in some cases no content at all. Any content if present would be describing an affiliate program or product with lots of excerpts of interviews and recommendations from their so called users who have benefited after using their products. Or in some cases you would only see a search box , 3 blocks of Google ads, 3 text link ads with welcome to my site logo in the middle.

The only purpose they are designed and hosted to make money from Google AdSense program. How does a MFA site affect your AdSense revenue and reputation? These sites advertise using Google and other PPC programs by bidding a very low CPC to get the cheapest traffic to their site.
If you have checked your AdSense account and you notice you are getting only 1 to 2 cents per click chances are very high that readers might have clicked on the Ad of MFA site. Here is how these sites operate.

MFA sites bid lowest possible CPC amount for a keyword on your site. The ad from MFA site is displayed on your site.

Readers click on the ad and visit MFA site fetching you 1 to 2 cents for the click.
MFA displays nothing but ads. So readers are tempted (or forced as there is pretty much nothing else that they can do on MFA sites) to click on the ads displayed on the MFA site, thereby fetching them $1 per click.

Remember not everyone will click on the ads displayed on these MFA sites though but enough number of readers will to make the MFA site to get from 50% to up to 1000% in return.

The above process is known as PPC Arbitrage and may dent your AdSense income very badly. It also gives your reader a very poor experience, since he clicks on the ads displayed on your website to find useful information not another site with even more ads and no information.
The most annoying part in this entire episode is that Google can easily ban these sites but they won't because they get a large amount out of their total revenue from these sites. Google cares less as to whether clicks come from your site or from MFA site as long as the clicks keep on coming, because Google benefits from this.

There is no incentive that Google will get by banning these sites. As long as Google doesn't take an appropriate step, you will have more and more Arbitragers creating MFA sites to take advantage of this loophole and hurt Legitimate and Genuine sites.

AdSense is Google's ad serving program that allows webmasters to make money from their websites by displaying AdSense ads on their pages and getting paid every time someone clicks on those ads. Sounds easy right? A straight forward online business model that should help make anyone financially free.

So why are there so many people struggling to make money with AdSense?

The program is easy enough to understand and the rules are clear.

The truth is anyone can make money form AdSense as long as they follow certain basic rules and principles

Read the terms of service of Google AdSense program. This is really basic but in the excitement of finding a program that sounds great and has such potential, it is easy to forget to read the TOS in detail. Reading this has a few benefits.

Avoid getting banned. It is easy to stray out of the terms of service of AdSense and getting banned can be the result. Once banned, it is nigh impossible to get your account reinstated. Website size. Anecdotally and from personal experience, larger websites tend to do better with AdSense than the 4 or 5 page website. I suppose that with all the content in the multipage website, your likelihood of attracting an adequate amount of traffic and ranking well for some keywords are better. However there is the case for having multiple small websites. Each of the websites will only bring a small amount of revenue but a large network of these sites could make a significant impact on your earnings

Adsense CTR Increase Tips

These days even though my traffic has increased my Adsense Click Through Rate (CTR) remains low. I tried many things to increase my CTR like putting images next to my Ads, implementing Section targetting, blended Ads, placing Ads near content, choosing best Ad format, etc but I did not succeed in increasing my CTR much.A few days back, while chatting with LiewCF, I asked him for some suggestions to increase my CTR. He quickly gave me some tips which I had not thought of before. I tried some of them and I already noticed my CTR improve. What were those tips?Below I have listed the tips that Liew suggested to me along with my comments. But please do note that these tips are meant for my site. They may or may not work for you.remove the date icon, it steals the visitor’s attention from the Ads Here Liew talks about the Date Stamp next to my title. According to him, the Date stamp distracts my visitors from the AdSense Ads.I will be removing them in my next theme redesign.remove ‘categories’ and ‘tags’ after post titleAccording to Liew, the “categories” and “tags” near my title are some of the other things that distract my visitors from the Adsense Ads. I took a look at how “categories” were shown on Liew’s blog and found that the main difference was that his ‘Categories’ had no images next to them like mine.So I just removed it’s images instead of removing or placing them at the end of the post.use line instead of shadow for the image next to Ad or flip the shadow to other side I just used Adsense Beautifier which uses a vertical line to separate the images from the Ad.move out the blogging, tweaks, etc on topI am not sure I want to do this.swap the left and right sidebarI will be doing this on my next theme redesignuse smaller icon image Liew says that the big images of floppies and DVDs next to my AdSense Ads tempted him to click the images instead of the Ads. CrazyEgg helps you tracking your visitors' clicks.So, you can check, which adsense units get clicks, which headlines are more effictive, do visitors click links and sidebar and so on. After a couple of days using CrazyEgg i've noticed, that for one of my blogs top ad unit is square rectangle at the bottom of the page - people usually scan the front page through and then click "Older Posts" button. That's not a rule, for some of my blogs this unit isn't good.Anyway, check CrazyEgg - you can have a free trial, and it's one of the most useful web-tools i discovered lately.

Adsense Psychology

Analyzing lots of monetized blogs and web-pages i came to such a conclusion: there are two widespread ways to earn money with Google Adsense, here i call them "types of Adsense Psychology". They determine your content managment, SEO, Adsense Optimization and everything connected to managing you blog / page.

1. "Click Vampire".

This type of Adsense psychology means that you need your visitors just to come to your page, click ad unit and go away.

In this case you put large ad units at the bottom of the page and sidebar, make them look exactly the same as the content - including background color, font type, size and color, links color and so on. You make a lot of pages each optimized on a special, low-competitive search term. You may be not very serious about your content, sometimes your blogs may be splogs. You can even do spamming for your blog promotion.

The problems with such type of Adsense pscychology is that:
-In most cases visitors instantly understand what type of Adsense psychology you use, and they don't read or click anything, do not share your pages with friends and do not link to you from their blogs.
-You may have problems with SEO and even with blog-hosting, if your resource is connetcted to spam.

2. "Relationship builder".

This means that you are going to get the most of each visit to your resource - make visitor read 20 pages, link to you from all of his / her resources, submit your content to social bookmarking, sites, put you to favorites and so on.

The goals here are quality, unique and useful content and optimized, but not irritating ads.

You usually need a lot of time to build such blogs / pages, but as the result they are easy to promote, and you get a lot of thankful readers.
